ASSEMBLY SET PACE TO ABATE EFFECT OF DROUGHT THROUGH 10.6B SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET

Kajiado County Assembly has this morning held a Special Sitting setting pace to pass the first Supplementary Budget for the Financial year 2022/2023.

The Supplementary Budget will see the County Government re-allocate the funds to priority areas that will go along way to help mitigate adverse effects of drought in the vast County.

Budget and Appropriations Committee has 7days to scrutinize the estimates.

Kajiado County is adversely affected by severe drought that has seen farmers losing livestock in large numbers and many families lack food.

Hon. Speaker Justus Ngossor has committed the Supplementary Budget Estimates to the Budget & Appropriations Committee which is chaired by Kimana Ward MCA Hon. James Kuya.

Further, the Speaker has directed the committee to scrutinize the budget estimates within 7 days and table the report for debate.

Pursuant to the Public Finance Management Act 2012 Section 135, the County Executive Member for Finance is required to submit to the County Assembly the Supplementary Budget Estimates.

The budget estimates include a statement showing how the additional expenditure relates to the fiscal principles and financial objectives.
